To anyone with any degree of formal education or life sophistication, the concept of fake news in the last 10 years was nothing more than a bald-faced attempt by people who just didn't like what the news was reporting

At first, news thought they could get by simply reporting and not pointing out the trickery. Quoting actress/comedian Tina Fey "Don't you hate it when the 'lame-stream' media disparages [insert clown politician name here] by quoting him... ver batim". I almost fell out of my seat when she said that and I thought "ok, at some point the clowns will be exposed."

But, they weren't exposed. They persisted. And, people kept believing them.

Mainstream media lost its lustre in the process, because people actually fell for those who were manipulating popular opinion

One would think that instead of caving to the pathetic manipulations, well-run news organizations would double-down on vetting their sources, providing references and proof, and re-establishing lost trust.

Instead, they enslaved themselves to eyeballs instead of truth. When the man said "nevermind the man behind the curtain - look over here" - people looked "over there".

Here's the sad state of what was formerly known as "the most trusted name in news":

Really?! THAT is 'Breaking News'
